Multiple Epson Perfection v39 with serial VCFY3367?? doesnt work, scanners with lower serial number does work
We have 28 Epson scanners connected to Linux servers using ubuntu.
Some scanners work and some do not work, specifically 11 of the scanners do not work, all with serial number VCFY3367xx The scanners that work have lower serial numbers
When using the scanners from command line with sane, we have tried several Epson drivers.
The drivers we have installed are respectively:
- imagescan-bundle-ubuntu-20.0 4-3.65.0.x64.deb
- epsonscan2-bundle-6.6.40.0.x 86_64.deb
- iscan-gt-s650-bundle-2.30.4. x64.deb
they al fail in more or less the same way:
- First to list the scanner:
$ scanimage -L
device `imagescan:esci:gt-s650:usb:/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-3/1-3:1.0' is a EPSON Epson_Perfection_V39
device `epsonscan2:Perfection V39/GT-S650:001:006:esci2:usb:ES010D:317' is a EPSON Perfection V39/GT-S650:001:006 flatbed scanner
device `epkowa:interpreter:001:006' is a Epson Perfection V39 flatbed scanner
after scanimage -L, the LED indicator is blinking, and the scanner head did not move, on the functional scanners, the LED indicator has constant light, and the scanner head moved a bit during detection.
When I try to scan with each device but get errors as follows:
$ SANE_DEBUG_EPSON2=8 scanimage -d imagescan:esci:gt-s650:usb:/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-3/1-3:1.0 --mode Color --format jpeg > test.jpg
scanimage: sane_start: Operation was canceled
$ SANE_DEBUG_EPSON2=8 scanimage -d epsonscan2:Perfection V39/GT-S650:001:006:esci2:usb:ES010D:317 --mode Color --format jpeg > test.jpg
scanimage: open of device epsonscan2:Perfection failed: Invalid argument
$ SANE_DEBUG_EPSON2=8 scanimage -d epkowa:interpreter:001:006 --mode Color --format jpeg > test.jpg
scanimage: sane_start: Invalid argument
for the epsonscan2 argument, the problem may be the ::space:: in the argument?
If I use another Perfection V39 scanner with similar arguments, the reported works with 'imagescan' driver, and with epkowa driver, but hangs with epson2 driver.
I am a bit in the blind here about what to do to find they issue here, any ideas?
