XSane with Ubuntu 20.04 and 21.04 on Canon LIDE220 no longer works, previously did.
Scanning with the Canon LIDE220 is broken, previously (< 6 months ago) worked fine. This is on Ubuntu 21.04. This was recently upgraded from Ubuntu 20.04 in an attempt to solve this problem, but the upgrade did not help.
The scanner is recognized, but when the scan button is pressed, we get an error "Failed to start scanner: invalid argument. See attached screen shot.
I'm a retired software developer. If someone would provide me with steps to turn on logging, debugging procedures, etc., I am able and willing to help get more information for the developers.
Thank you.

This sounds similar to issue #367, but on a different platform.
