EPSON 2480 (snapscan backend) scanning first page and scanning head getting stuck in the middle back to top

Hello, My usb scanner EPSON 2480 does not work properly anymore. I use MXLinux 19.3 :

uname -a => Linux pc-olivier 5.8.0-3-amd64 #1 (closed) SMP Debian 5.8.14-1~mx19+2 (2020-10-25) x86_64 GNU/Linux

It is detected correctly :

scanimage -L => device `snapscan:libusb:004:008' is a EPSON EPSON Scanner1 flatbed scanner

lsusb => Bus 004 Device 008: ID 04b8:0121 Seiko Epson Corp. GT-F500/GT-F550 [Perfection 2480/2580 PHOTO]

It scans correctly the first page with any of the frontends : scanimage, simple-scan, xsane But after scanning, when the scanning head should go back to the top, it stops in the middle, and I cannot scan again.

Since a few linux versions I had noticed that the scanner backend worked less : it was impossible to interrupt an ongoing scan, it hanged totally and I had to switch it off /on again.

But this new problem is really annoying. Is there anything I can do to help track the bug ?

Thanks in advance, OD
