Canon CanoScan 4400F overheating
Hi,
I had this now with two devices, so I report it.
I tried using a Canon Canoscan 4400F in transparency mode to scan slides using Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS with sane 1.0.31-binoic2 from pa:sane-project/sane-release.
Scanning worked OK, but after a few scans the scanner stops in mid-scan. The scanner is very warm on the outside.
After the scanner stops it is completely dead and I have not managed to revive it.
Before, when you plug in the scanner the light goes on, this does not happen any more. Also the Scanner is not found as USB-device any more. There is no fuse ore anything that I found when opening one of the devices, so my current assumption is that the device overheats and some essential chips just fry. Maybe the cause is something else, but anyway, the fact that I now lost two devices means that there may be a general problem here.
Regards,
Armin
