Hi! I'm Sina
I've spent over a decade building software and leading engineering work across backend, cloud, and SaaS, from Node.js and Laravel services to mobile and infrastructure. I'm fluent in English and German, and Persian is my native language.
What I work on
These days I focus on developer and contributor experience at GitLab: making it easier and more rewarding for people to contribute, and exploring how AI-assisted workflows can support the humans doing the work rather than replace them.
How I work
- I like things structured, documented, and repeatable. If I do something twice, I want it automated the third time.
- I prefer async, written-first communication: issues and MRs over pings, so context lives where the work does.
- I value direct, factual feedback and try to give the same. If something is off, I will say so, and I expect the same in return.
My approach to AI
I treat AI as a capable teammate, not autopilot. I read what it produces, verify it, and keep a human in the loop on anything that ships. No comment, MR, or commit goes out without my review.
Working with me
I'm at my best when I'm involved in solving a problem, not just informed about one. If you're introducing something that changes how I or others work, share the why and I'll engage constructively. MRs, questions, and honest feedback are always welcome.
Availability
I work from Berlin, Germany (CET/CEST). I keep Slack open but treat issues and MRs as the source of truth. For anything that needs a decision or carries context, that's the best place to reach me. For urgent things, ping me directly.
Happy to chat over coffee about:
- Contributor and developer experience
- Working effectively with AI agents
- Backend, cloud, and SaaS architecture
- Life in Berlin
