Strip .git* files from releases

For Debian (and the down stream distros such as Ubuntu), I maintian my packaging in Git. This means that any .git* files are problematic when left in the tarball, as this conflicts on the import. I would ask that for future releases, these files could be left out. This avoids repacking downstream and ultimatively makes updating faster.
