Assess harbour viability
We might want Whisperfish in Jolla's store.
- Are we using any APIs that are forbidden? If so, request access here https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/what-apis-are-missing-from-harbour/4017/6 or reimplement the part that violates the API.
- Contact database -> #132 (closed) (apparently contacts.db is harbour-OK, but using the Nemo API is not)
- Some Conversation.qml UI elements
- SailJail, which we need for the Contact db now.
- The Gecko Webview that's used for the CAPTCHA.
- I think Jolla is not opposed to having Rust-based apps, but they have no policy either (meeting notes: https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/community-meeting-on-irc-17th-dec-2020/3499/12?u=rubdos):
09:50 #info Sailfish OS apps (focus of the SDK offering, platform apps, etc.) are still mainly developed with Qt C++ and QML, but as general mobile operating system new languages and technologies are welcomed in the ecosystem.
09:50 #info Rust specifically has a lot of potential, and while most of our focus is in improving C++ and QML support, we will also improve Rust support.
They won't work against us, that's for sure.
