Desktop icons randomly break and can't open folders located on the desktop

The post below is just copy and pasted from a reddit post I made. I was told that I should post it here so that's what I'm doing. I am on manjaro using gnome V41.3 and kernel 5.16.11-2. I started having these issues a few weeks after switching to manjaro.

I have been having 2 issues with my desktop icons. Issue 1, after some amount of time of my PC being on my desktop icons just stop functioning. Sometimes I'll turn it on and they won't work, other times it takes a while. I cannot click on them, right click, double click, or even click and drag to highlight them. I can still see them but it's as if they became part of my wallpaper. And issue 2, I can not open folders that are located on my desktop from my desktop outside of right clicking and using "open in terminal". I can however access the folders and their contents by pathing to them through nautilus.
