Editors are overworked -- is that the publisher's fault?
Editors are overworked with tasks taking numerous hours per week.
Could it be the fault of the inefficient publisher systems? System so confusing that even Editors-in-Chief are misled?
With no competition, it is conceivable that publishers have little incentive to improve their systems.
It would be interesting to hear especially from journal editors, whether they believe the system could be improved to take away some of this load, should some proper competition among service providers be possible?
