pulse effect does not work when using emacsclient

I'm using the sample configuration as provided by the documentation. When launching a stand-alone Emacs session, the pulsing line effect works as demonstrated in the video introduction. However, in a client connected frame, the background face is changed to the chosen face and sticks, it does not fade back to the regular face for the line. Pressing any key will remove the highlight.

Attached is a screenshot of the issue. Also included in the screenshot, the package definition for installing pulsar.el. As of this writing, it is the latest available in the repository.
