Infinity Search
I think Infinity Search ( https://infinitysearch.co ) should be included in the alternative Search Engines!
Major points:
- Search: While not perfect it is actually pretty good for use
- License: Apache 2 (all their code is opensource with more to come - they are committed to a 100% OpenSource)
- Updates: very often
- GUI: simple and intuitive
- Privacy: They respect their users privacy very strongly (afaict)
- Engine: Unlike SearX, they have their own crawler and index and so are not a meta-search engine (they however use other search engines results as their own crawler is still in beta)
- Distributed service: They plan on, eventually, have a p2p version of the search engine ( https://forum.privacytools.io/t/were-a-privacy-search-engine-and-we-just-went-fully-open-source/2264/23 )
- Bonus point: They have a lite version -> https://infinitysearch.co/lite
As a small downside, while many things are already done, a lot is still under development.
All in all, i think it's in a good state for inclusion
