htc-ace: commands not working properly

Created by: george-hopkins

Some commands (e.g. sudo, ip link) do not work properly on my Desire HD (htc-ace). Whenever I invoke them, the seem to be stuck. Neither SIGINT nor SIGKILL are helping. The only way to get out is to kill the telnet/SSH connection. I haven't been able to find out which commands are affected. Sometimes, commands work partially (e.g. ip --help does work, ip link does not). The behaviour is the same for root and non-root users.

Weston demos and Plasma Mobile are working properly.

I tried debugging the exectuables with strace. I looks a bit like the programs always hang before/on brk() calls. However, I'm not quite sure as I don't have any other armhf hardware to compare the traces against. So this might be a red herring. When the programs are started with ltrace, an error is printed PTRACE_SINGLESTEP: I/O error and all programs seem to hang (even those which are working fine when invoked without ltrace).

Any suggestions on how to debug/resolve this issue are greatly appreciated.
