Users

--> Base Features --> Applicable to all user stories

  • Flexible creation of data dashboards using scripts
  • Data dashboard creation consists of scoping (selecting data), modifying (applying math, combining with API data... etc.) and visualizing (displaying the data)
  • Creation and control of data dashboards is organized around users. They can view them and share links to them with friends via the website.
  • A set of simplified commands (graph(x,y), etc.) to easily create visually attractive and clear dashboards
  • A dashboard creation experience which is accessible to a tech saavy but not professional programmer (Dave or Greg).
  • Data can be optionally anonomyzed (or deanonomyzed) up to the county or state level by those with data rights.
  • Terms of service and privacy agreement in place. Expectation that all data submitted will be public with identifiable material anonomyzed when requested.

As a member of THE PUBLIC...

  • ... who is probably interested in food or farm related issues
  • ... who is probably not an expert or scientist
  • ... who is just clicking through and won't take a great deal of time looking at things

I want to...

  • see a map of the quality of our food supply
  • see the quality of our food supply near me
  • know if there are farming practices that tend to produce better food and what those practices are.

--> Additional Features -->

  • We should have one general "state of nutrition' page which the public frequents a lot (maybe 1000+ pageviews a month). This data will likely be a script with a broad scope (perhaps even all the data) in order to show nationwide trends. This page will probably be located or embedded in the BFA's website.
  • In addition, we should have another page to address the question of 'what the quality of the food supply near me'. Something like user enters their zipcode, state, or region, and we provide a snapshot of information about that region which the user would find valuable.

--> Milestones -->

  • A webpage is public that the general public can use to understand the results of the lab and the state of nutrition.
  • A webpage is public that the general public can use to answer the question 'what is the quality of the food supply near me'?

As a LAB CUSTOMER...

  • ... who is probably a farmer or gardener
  • ... who would like to use this information to improve / learn about their operation
  • ... who is probably not a trained researcher

I want to...

  • clearly and easily see my results in the way and in language that I'm used to
  • have additional explanations on terms I'm not used to
  • have available a number to call if I have questions
  • get my results in a format I'm used to (pdf, word), ideally something I can easily print
  • compare my farm samples to the farm samples of others, especially those most similar to me
  • be able to see all the samples I've submitted over time.

--> Additional Features -->

  • HTML link to dashboard for easy emailing
  • PDF link to dashboard for easy printing
  • Ability for users to assign rights to data points. Those rights allow unlocking anonomyzed content, and access to original raw data (unprocessed).

--> Milestones -->

  • Someone can collect field data on samples, the lab can collect lab data on samples, and that data can be combined to display the results to the lab customer.

As a RESEARCHER...

  • ... who has or has had an active project on the Our Sci platform
  • ... who is trained in understanding and interpreting data
  • ... who is looking for trends or information to publish or present

I want to...

  • be able to track the progress of my projects as data is submitted
  • download all data as csv so I can analyze it using the software I'm used to
  • have clear notifications when data is irregular (as defined by me)
  • display my data in the way that I find useful

--> Additional Features -->

  • easy download for csv-saved data and raw data as needed.

--> Milestones -->

  • Dave can create a dashboard according to his needs and share it.

As a CONSULTANT / decision support person...

  • ... who has partner farmers who they provide advice to on their farm practices
  • ... who probably is not expert in data analysis, but is willing to learn a platform or method if useful to their work
  • ... who has a lot of experience with a wide range of farms and farmers data

I want to...

  • be able to interpret and understand the data to deliver better recommendations to my partner farmers
  • use the data to show differences between proposed treatments or management changes
  • clearly understand, within my own framework of knowledge, what the methods + measurements actually mean

--> Additional Features -->

  • similar to above... I need to be able to assign my clients (farmers) the rights to data points I collect on their behalf so they can see the non-anonomyzed version
  • have access to method details + PDFs with more details quickly and easily.

--> Milestones -->

  • Dave can create a dashboard according to his needs and share it.
