Possible changes to how monster "ownership" works
Preface
First of all, by "ownership" I don't mean rights to kill, but who gets the exp/loot when the monster dies.
The way the system works right now is the following:
If A deals >50% damage to an enemy, they get ownership of the monster for an indefinite amount of time (unless there's a super high time out I'm not aware of).
So for example: A deals >50% damage to an enemy, teleports away. B finds the damaged enemy, finishes it off. Experience is divided amongst the two, according to how much damage each dealt. Loot however, is given entirely to A. A even retains ownership if he logs out or leaves the map and then comes back.
If B kills the damaged enemy while A is gone (logged out or in another map), then B gets partial exp according to the damage dealt, but gets all the loot.
The problem this system of ownership brings is that sometimes people will deal just about 50% HP damage to monsters and teleport away (though in most cases out of necessity rather than malice), and this negatively affects whoever else runs into the monster next, since if it's aggressive, dangerous, and fast, you pretty much have to kill it, even when you know you'll get little experience and no loot.
Description
So my proposal is to change how ownership works, and make it have a bit of a shorter term memory. Basically if you damage an enemy, and you find yourself at 20 tiles or more away from it, then you lose ownership, meaning that if anybody else kills it, they get the loot instead. Notice I didn't say experience, and I'll explain why.
If you were to fully transfer experience as well, it could be very easily abused to level lowbies. Say A damages a tough monster to very low HP, brings it to B, a lowbie. A teleports away to look for another enemy, losing ownership entirely. B finishes it off, gaining full experience. Obviously that would be an undesirable scenario. Even worse if done with big mobs instead of a single enemy.
So essentially I'm proposing it to be more similar to:
If B kills the damaged enemy while A is gone, then B gets partial exp according to the damage dealt, but gets all the loot.
Except instead of gone, make it ≥20-tile distance.
Rationale
Simple reason is to diminish the impact of people doing teleport-leveling and not finishing enemies off, which makes it very unappealing for other people in the map. Normally without autoloot, when this happens to you, even if you can't loot the items at first, the person that teleported away can't get them either. So in my opinion it just makes sense that they lose their right to the loot.
Additional Information
I know this could be very tricky to implement, since it'd have to keep the experience division as is, and only change how the loot ownership works. Also it's definitely nothing I'd call indispensable, but would be a nice way to further discourage teleport-leveling when there are other people present in the map.
Also, this would only apply to regular monsters, not bosses.
