Pi Camera cover - modifications
Modifications needed to address
-
No. 2 self tappers do not fit in counterbores -
The cover interferes with ribbon cable connector.
For the counterbores
The Pi Camera cover has counterbored holes that are a really close fit on the M2 screws that it was designed for. No2 self-tappers are going to be recommended for this in version 7, so:
- Either re-design with larger counterbores, which may need the cover to wrap over the edges of the camera board
- or fill the counterbores and have the screws on the surface - mine ended up like that even with M2 screws as the counterbores are very close-fitting and I had not really realised they were there. It does look very nice with black M2 snugly flush in the cover.
Note: The landing areas around the mounting holes on the Pi Camera board are <5mm diameter. The current counterbore bases on the camera cover are >5.5mm and are in danger of coming into contact with capacitors on the board. This needs to be taken account of when designing for the slightly larger screws.
