Update newcomer guidelines for finding technical tasks
Problem
The onboarding course is not specific on the steps and guidelines for helping newcomers finding technical tasks. In particular:
- Tasks tagged with
newcomer friendly
in the backlog are not necessarily "available for newcomers to pick". - Relying on mentor and people on the team to select and assign you a task is the first step the newcomer should take before trying to figure out the task on his own, due to the rigidity of budget assignment, sprint assignment and scope.
Acceptance Criteria
Update the text at Week 1: First Sprint to:
- Clarify how exactly the new technical task will be selected during the first week: a. Assigned by mentor, b. If not assigned by mentor, how to find task on his own.
- Move "task picking" steps to "sprint planning" which should be done by the newcomer in preparation of the upcoming sprint.
