Text with phonetic guide text not extracted in Xliff

Japanese text often have phonetic guides (Hiragana). Tikal doesn't seem to be able to extract those text.

For example, if I run ./tikal.sh -x test.doc on this document:

I got only one TU, instead of two, in the xliff file:

Even in the one TU, text with phonetic guides are completely missing.
