Time-dependent external field direction?

I want to be able to specify not only the time-dependence of the amplitude envelope of a laser field, but also a time-dependent direction. This is to enable consideration of circularly-polarized laser irradiation. Can this be done currently? If not, what would need to be changed in the code to make it work? Thanks!
