estcot: make -year()- optional?
Currently, the year()
option of estcot
is required because beginning and end year are stored with each change estimate --- in addition to the respective time variable t0
and t1
.
Moreover, the information of the year used for the calculation of the duration of the period of observation, which is needed for the annualized changes.
So removing the year information from each estimate would suggest to make the year()
option truly optional (and only required with ann
option). Similar to other survey-constant information, the point of survey fielding could be merged through the reference sheet.
Note
Once we revise / improve the point of time when the survey was fielded, this may imply an additional year variable anyway.
Reconsider this issue when addressing the fielding time of the survey.
