MIC-in phone jack not working
Dasharo version
v0.5.0
Hardware details
Clevo NV40MZ
Affected component(s) or functionality
MIC-in phone jack
Brief summary
When I plug in a handsfree headset such as this one, the microphone doesn't get recognized : the computer keeps on recording with the internal microphone instead. This headset is working on my old laptop, and I tried with another one just to make sure, without more success.
How reproducible
100% reproducible.
How to reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Start the "Voice Recorder" application
- Record a voice sample, talking 1 meter away from the laptop
- Plug a handsfree headset into the jack plug
- Record a new voice sample, from the same distance but talking right into the headset microphone and tapping on it with a finger
- Compare the two recordings
Expected behavior
At step 5:
- The voice level in the 1st recording should be low (due to the distance from the laptop).
- The voice level in the 2nd recording should be high or even distorted (due to the distance from the headset mic) and we should hear the finger taps.
Actual behavior
At step 5:
- The voice level in the 1st recording is indeed low.
- The voice level in the 2nd recording is a low as in the 1st recording and we do not hear any finger tap.

Additional context
When I look at my old laptop (Windows 10 + Realtek driver 6.0.1), there are way more driver files (100+), but I don't know if that's related.
Solutions you've tried
- I've tested a different headset.
- I've checked that the headset jack is correctly and fully plugged.
- I've checked if, after plugging the headset, there was no extra input device to activate in the System > Sound configuration, but there's not.
- I've made the same test with the same headset on my old laptop (Windows 10 + Realtek driver 6.0.1) and it works.
