(Installation) BCM43602 (MBP 12,1 WiFi Card) Issues (Firmware? Installer? Else?)
An issue with installation on a MacBook Pro 12,1 with the Broadcom BCM43602 WiFi card is that the system does not load the needed firmware blob when using the provided Nonguix install image.
This is noted in the kernel startup screen as "no clm_blob available [...] device may have limited channels available", and the installer (which diligently informs you that it's a non-free card) displays errors whenever it tries to log in to a network requiring login credentials. Running ip address
on a TTY shows only the loopback and ethernet interfaces.
On further investigation, the crm_blob for this card, if there is one, is missing from the Nonguix installation image. It's possible that this is a build issue (seeing as the upstream firmware repo does not have any crm_blob files) but I am not knowledgeable enough to verify.
Otherwise, this conversation suggests that the "missing crm_blob" warning may be false, and that the necessary data is already there; in this case, the issue must be with the Installer or somewhere else upstream (ip address
doesn't list a third interface, yet the installer can successfully scan for networks, which is intriguing.)
Has anyone worked with the MacBook Pro 12,1 or the BCM43602 before here and can advise?
