This is the status of the countries in which Qz currently works.
In order to receive TMC in a particular country, two prerequisites must be fulfilled:
Qz needs to have the location table for that country. If you know where to get a location table for a country that is not currently supported, open an issue with an indication where the location table can be obtained.
An unencrypted TMC service must be available in that country (and use the freely available location table, not a proprietary one). A couple of countries in Europe (mostly in the west) offer unencrypted TMC services. Qz does not support encrypted services, and likely never will, as the only legal way to receive these services requires a royalty payment.
Some TMC services occasionally send INTER-ROAD messages which refer to locations taken from a different location table (usually that of a different country). In order for this to work, the broadcasting TMC service must be unencrypted and the location table to which the message refers must be available.
|Country||Location Table||Unencrypted TMC service||Works|
|Netherlands³||Yes (LTN 17)||Yes||Yes|
|Norway²||Yes||No (Analog FM radio discontinued in 2017)||No|
¹ Location tables not freely available
² INTER-ROAD messages from neighboring countries can be received if the service is unencrypted.
³ A location table for this country is freely available, but some unencrypted TMC services use a location table which is not. These services are not supported.
