SMTP session failed: 500 5.5.2 Error: bad UTF-8 syntax

Moved server from Ubuntu14.04 to Centos7. Set up that worked on Ubuntu does not work on Centos7. I am hoping someone can suggest a fix. Perhaps there is a postfix setting that will do the trick. Similar results with mailx.
