Project Mwnci is a masters dissertation project which aims to bridge the gap between the web of linked-data and the most popular data processing tool available, the spreadsheet. It is an extension for Open/LibreOffice which adds functionality to Calc to enable live, updatable, automatically translatable spreadsheets to be produced from linked-data resources such as WikiData, Europeana and other SPARQL data-sources.
Further background on the project can be found here.
This project requires a reasonably modern version of OpenOffice or LibreOffice. If one of these is not installed then LibreOffice can be downloaded and installed from the official website at https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/. Note that this extension should support OpenOffice 4.0 and above as well as LibreOffice 4.1 and above (these versions are circa 2014).
To download the extension for testing, please click here. Most installations of Open/LibreOffice should automatically associate the .oxt file extension correctly, so double clicking should start the installation process. If this does not occur please see the corresponding Document Foundation Guide.
The current documentation for Project Mwnci is available here:
I'd love to hear if this works for you or if it doesn't. It would also be nice to hear any suggestions on how this project could be altered to create a tool which works for you in your field or at your organisation.
