Guest mode designs for web
Metrics
The increase of the following metrics would be a positive outcome for the rollout of 'Guest Mode'
- Increased page views
- Increased registrations
- Increased logins
We should look into rolling out the following functionality under A/B testing. Group A being the existing (control) group and Group B including the new guest mode. A/B impressions should be split 50:50 so both audience sizes are equal. Should the metrics listed above see an increase, we can consider guest mode to be successful.

Web - Guest Mode
The intent with guest mode is to provide the public with a window in Minds, without necessarily creating an account. Users are free to explore and discover content, channels and groups. The end goal of which is to increase the total number of registrations.
General
- Anytime a user clicks on an action that requires user authentication (e.g. up-vote, comment, subscribe, remind, down-vote etc) a modal should fire prompting the users to login. https://www.sketch.com/s/fa301655-276b-4d88-9247-9c61363c1eae/v/bM9zkz/a/jgDPnO0
- Dark mode should be the default color
Discovery (minds.com)
- The default page (https://minds.com) points to the discovery page. https://www.sketch.com/s/fa301655-276b-4d88-9247-9c61363c1eae/a/DPvWGve
- By default a 'build you algorithm is displayed to any guest user who hasn't provided any data.
- The lower white banner is displayed to all logged out users, who haven’t dismissed it, or haven’t signed up. Copy here is to be provided by @jotto141
- Popular channels should be displayed on the RHS column. This should rotate. Any channel displayed should be active with fresh content [Nice to have for this iteration]
- Popular tags should be trending.
Login & Registration
- Login and registration functionality resides within a modal. https://www.sketch.com/s/fa301655-276b-4d88-9247-9c61363c1eae/a/VrYzo4o & https://www.sketch.com/s/fa301655-276b-4d88-9247-9c61363c1eae/a/YGrv5OM & https://www.sketch.com/s/fa301655-276b-4d88-9247-9c61363c1eae/a/4avx5Jo
- The user may either click login / join minds, or attempt to commit an action which requires user authentication.
