Language Codes acording to MKV Specification
Hello,
Is it possible to specify languages as described in the MKV specification ?
MKV allows to specify languages as [Language code (ISO-639-2)]-[Country code (tld)]
to be more specific (eg fre-fr, eng-uk, eng-ca, ...).
https://www.matroska.org/technical/specs/index.html#languages
Language Codes: Language codes can be either the 3 letters bibliographic ISO-639-2 form (like "fre" for french), or such a language code followed by a dash and a country code for specialities in languages (like "fre-ca" for Canadian French). Country codes are the same as used for internet domains.
French (fre or fre-fr) and French Canadian (fre-ca) is a good example.
It seems that :
- MKVToolnix GUI (28.2.0) only ISO-639-2 are available in the selection menu and can not force or enter a custom value.
- mkvpropedit don't allow such languages code :
Error: Invalid change spec (invalid ISO 639-2 language code 'fre-ca') in '--set language=fre-ca'
Is there any way to force the use of these type or format of language code ?
VLC seems to recognize this language code format (https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/11813)
Thanks in advance for your answer.
Kind Regards
