Studio: Scene/UI hierarchy filter with search box
Goal
Add a search/filter box at the top of the Scene hierarchy and UI hierarchy panels. Users can type to filter the tree and quickly find specific nodes in complex scenes.
Context / integration points
- Scene hierarchy (scene tree) and UI hierarchy panels display tree structures of nodes.
- Large scenes with hundreds of nodes are difficult to navigate without filtering.
- Similar pattern to Asset Browser filter (#XXX - sibling issue), but optimized for tree structures.
- The filter should highlight matching nodes and their ancestors so the tree structure remains visible.
Design
- Add a search box at the top of each hierarchy panel (Scene, UI).
- Real-time filtering: results update on each keystroke.
- Fuzzy or substring matching on node names.
- Matching nodes are highlighted; non-matching branches are collapsed or dimmed.
- Ancestors of matching nodes remain visible (so the user can see the path).
- Debounce search input (200ms).
- Clear button (X) to reset the filter.
- Optional: case-sensitive toggle.
Tasks
- Add search box widget to Scene hierarchy panel header
- Add search box widget to UI hierarchy panel header
- Implement tree-aware filtering (show matching nodes + ancestors)
- Implement fuzzy or substring matching
- Optimize for large hierarchies (200+ nodes)
- Test with various node naming conventions
Acceptance criteria
- Typing in the Scene hierarchy search box filters the tree in real-time.
- Matching nodes and their ancestors remain visible.
- Non-matching branches are hidden or dimmed.
- Works identically in the UI hierarchy panel.
- The UI is responsive even with large hierarchies.
