Private archive message confusing for unverified users

I suggest (to kick off discussion):

"The archives of this list are private. You must be logged to an account with a verified email subscribed to this list to view the archives."

Problems: (1) That's a mouthful and may not be meaningful to some users. (2) I have not confirmed that it's accurate, though at the very least you need to be logged in.
