Manny's README
This page is intended to help others understand what it might be like to work with me, especially people who haven't worked with me before.
About me
Hello, I'm Manny and I'm an Assigned Support Engineer at GitLab. Raised and born in the Southwest, I'm always looking to travel to not so sunny locations whenever I can (I love Iceland and have traveled there twice already!). I love going outside and taking pictures with one of my many (and I mean many) film cameras.
I've worked for a few different tech companies over the past decade, with most of my experience being in the SaaS and Web hosting space, which has helped me aquire several different technicall skills. I really do enjoy learning new things and I'm lucky to be in a field that is constantly providing me those opporutunites.
I'm currently working on learning:
- Git/GitLab administration, troubleshooting, and documenting (ongoing)
- Kubernetes (I already have a lot of knowledge in regards to Docker, working to further expand my K8 skills however)
I have strong knowledge of:
- Documentation and Technical Writing
- SSL/TLS & network troubleshooting
- PostgreSQL

My working style
Throughout my day, I try to first tackel any quick wins that I can take care of, before then working intensively on a bigger, more important task, which I will focus on until it's completed. Once that task is compeleted, I go through the cycle again, seeing if there are any newer, quick wins before proceeding to the next big task. This does require a bit of planning at the start of my day to see which tasks are the most important and/or are due soon. However, it's important that I also stay flexiable, as an ememergcy task can come in at any time and may require me to shift my work.
Communicating with me
- Feel free to reach out to me in any manner that works best for you, wheather that be Slack, email, or @ mentions. I'll gladly reply back as soon as I can.
- I'm also always down for a coffee chat to talk about anything! All I ask is that you schedule any coffee chats a day in advance.
Strengths/Weaknesses
My greatest strenght is also my greatest weakness, and that's focusing intesnsively on one thing. This is a good thing in that I'm always working to solve the problem at hand, no matther how hard it is. However, it's also bad because I don't always take a step back to take a look at the bigger picture and ensure that I'm not missing anything. This is why it's important to take breaks and refresh your eyes throughout the day.
