VR doesn't start in HMD

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious. I have a fresh Morrowind install with the latest openmw_vr windows release 'OpenMW_MSVC2019_64_Release_openxr_vr_650648498', extracted into the MW game directory. I installed and it launches openmw fine, but doesn't display in the HMD. I have latest Oculus PTC release and SteamVR Beta version, and am connected with my Rift CV1. I tried launching with the launcher exe as well as the openmw.exe, same result. Appreciate if someone can point out what I'm missing, thanks!
