After Arch moved `linux-lts` to the 5.10 kernel, zstd compression became the default for `mkinitcpio` from version 30 onwards.
|

|
Older kernels may not support zstd, so make sure to edit your `/etc/mkinitcpio.conf` and switch to a compression method supported by the kernels you are using. For example, gzip is supported by all kernels.
