Devnull undocumented
The Devnull
context type is a very useful yet undocumented feature. It is an alternative to the kludge of combining a music expression that contains \break
commands and such with one of the voices. For example, instead of
\version "2.23.14"
structure = {
\after 1*4 \break
\after 1*8 \break
<>
}
<<
\new Staff << \structure \repeat unfold 20 { c'4 4 4 4 } >>
\new Staff \repeat unfold 20 { c'4 4 4 4 }
>>
one can write
\version "2.23.14"
structure = {
\after 1*4 \break
\after 1*8 \break
<>
}
<<
\new Devnull \structure
\new Staff \repeat unfold 20 { c'4 4 4 4 }
\new Staff \repeat unfold 20 { c'4 4 4 4 }
>>
This ought to be documented in the NR IMHO, and templates using the former form should be changed to use the latter.
