Tezos version needs updating?

When using a Ligo built with nix to compile a contract that embeds Michelson that uses the LEVEL primitive, the Michelson checker reports that the primitive is unknown. This is when compiling with the edo protocol specified.

Is this a case of the packaged Tezos version being too old? Would be great to get it updated if so. A naïve niv update tezos-packaging didn't result in a successful build.
