Hey, I'm Luke!
Software Engineer · Development Tooling · DevEx · Vancouver, BC (PST / UTC-7)
About me
I'm a software engineer with about three years of professional experience. Before GitLab, I worked at Demonware (a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard), where I was on a Kubernetes team building and administering multi-cluster automation for the live services that power the Call of Duty franchise.
I grew up in rural Southern Alberta and am now based in Vancouver, Canada.
Outside of work
Music is a big part of my life. I play guitar, write songs, and sing - mostly country and folk. I also play chess, though strictly bullet chess to make sure I never actually get good at it.
I have aphantasia, the inability to visualize mental images, and I love discussing related topics! (aphantasia, differences in how people experience the world, memory, neurodiversity, consciousness)
I'm a neovim + tmux enthusiast and spend many evenings tinkering with my dotfiles. I'm firmly in the keyboard-over-mouse camp and have a strong preference for tools that let me keep my hands on the keys.
How to reach me
The most reliable way to get my attention is to tag me on GitLab.
For anything informal or more immediate, Slack DMs are great too.
Coffee chats are always welcome!
When I'm around
I'm generally online 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST (15:00 – 00:00 UTC), though I often split my day and put in a few hours in the late evening as well.
