Which user should do git and git bz operations?

reading run.sh, it seem that it's root that has git bz set up.

Also root has a fancy shell prompt with git info. But kohadev-koha doesn't.

So, is that correct that root should handle git and git bz? I was hitting git bz errors when guiding someone else but we were using git bz as kohadev-koha.
