Blocking System
This was already pre-discussed but putting this here for record keeping.
Users have requested the ability to block other users. At the bare minimum, they should be able to block other users from DMing them, but the discussion led to this also being used for posts and threads.
The best implementation I saw were something along these pics
Some notes from moderator discussion too:
Rename block to Hidden User list (hide user action)
Meta, WACP, and the GreenBox subforums (the direct to mod one) will not hide posts.
Mods can not block users (sorry)
Mods should be able to see the hidden user list of any user on their profile page
Hiding a user should have severity drop-down for post, thread, and direct message. Direct message being the least severe, and post being the most.
Hiding a user should be done on the user's profile page.
If a hidden user replied to the hider, that person should be aware they were replied to on that post but they should still not see any content. It doesn't have to be a ping but as they scroll, there should be some identifier.
Users should be able to singularly unhide posts, similar to spoilers.
Saying you're blocking a user, have blocked a user, or encourage blocking a user is a severe mute.
In terms of design I am biased to the one I posted on the previous page of this thread.
ASIDE STUFF
I would be additionally interested if we could see a list of users who have hidden a particular user. Basically click on their profile page, and we see a HIDDEN BY list or something. that isn't required but would be useful info for us
