I was told we do not need to freeze github as gitlab updates from github anyways but it does not seem to work that way.
The last update for pull requests for the lib repos on gitlab was 3 weeks ago but as you can see by looking at any github repo we had activity since then so it seems i have been misinformed and we indeed need to freeze the github side for the transition period. Which means the lib side will do that as soon as the new file format is stable enough to be of use to us. (I do not want to freeze the lib side twice.)

An example: the latest footprint pull request on github is https://github.com/KiCad/kicad-footprints/pull/2020 but that one seems to be absent from gitlab. (as are all others opened since the bot ran last)
