Toggle to enable auto-synchronization (schematic <-> PCB)
Description
I find myself spending quite some time doing synchronization schematic to PCB, PCB to schematic, manually. This is a feature suggestion: I wish there was a button (toggle) to enable auto-synchronization, which is how I would like KiCad to work most of the time. This synch mode could behave as follows:
- If I change the symbol value in the schematic, it updates also the value in the PCB. Also the other way round.
- If I change the footprint in the schematic, it updates the footprint automatically in the PCB. Also the other way round via implicit 'backannotate'.
- If I add or delete a symbol in the schematic, it adds or removes it also in the PCB
- If I change connect a pin to a net GND in the schematic, the corresponding pad is connected also to this net in the PCB
- If I change the name of a net in the schematic, it automatically updates the net name in the PCB
- If I change the name of a net in PCBnew, it automatically changes the net name in all occurences across schematic sheets. (needs probably first: #4306 (closed))
So to say, that synchronization schematic-PCB in both directions is guaranteed to avoid mistakes as well as extra time taking care of synch oneself. This idea of auto-syncing is related to: #4492 (closed)
Steps to reproduce
- Open a PCB.
- Change schematic value of a resistor from 1kohm to 2kohm
- Go to PCB, update from schematic to reflect this change.
- Ideally, if I have sync mode one, I would not need to click on Update to achieve this.
- Also in the other direction, from PCB to schematic.
