shortcuts [shift]+[letter] doesn't work in Eeschema (lp:#1809929)

A bug report against the Debian BTS was recently opened because the
reporter has noticed that shortcuts in Eeschema with the shift key in the
combination doesn't work in 5.0.1 and later also in 5.0.2. I see this too
in the current HEAD.

I'm working with Gnome3 3.30.1 and gdm3 as window manager and X11 on Debian
testing. The original bug reporter stated he is using Stretch's XFCE with
xfwm4 version 4.12.4.
