After importing a non-KiCad project, variant selection dropdown doesn't reflect current state

Description

After importing an EAGLE file with <variantdef ... current="yes">, the variant selection dropdown shows "< Default >", but the schematic shows the variant marked as current .

Steps to reproduce

1. Import non-KiCad Project -> EAGLE Project

2. Select

   TestV17.sch

3. The shown schematic (correctly) corresponds to Variant #2025 (12), but the variant selection dropdown (incorrectly) says < Default >.
