Wireless support – adapters not recognized

Good evening Folks,

I am looking for some assistance with the wireless adapters. I have two wireless adapters that are currently supported, adapter #1 (closed) is an Atheros AR9271 and adapter #2 (closed) is the Alfa Networks AWUSO36NH.

The wireless card support documented here https://www.kali.org/docs/nethunter/wireless-cards/ states that android devices require an USB-OTG cable.

I am using a Samsung Galaxy A8 which has a USB 2.0 type C port. The adapters are both Mini USB. I do have one cable that is a Type C to Mini. When connected, the Alpha lights up but nethunter still does not recognize the adapter and yes the drivers are installed. The Atheros does not light up at all.

My question is should this setup work or must I purchase the OTG cable and if so, do I require OTG cable with external power? I welcome any online suggestions for purchase if my existing setup is not supported.
