Hi there
This page is intended to help others understand what it might be like to work with me, especially people who haven’t worked with me before.
It’s also a well-intentioned effort at building some trust by being intentionally vulnerable, and to share my ideas of a good working relationship to reduce the anxiety of people who might be on my team.
About me
I'm Jordan, Senior Customer Success Manager at GitLab since September 2025, a bit after GitLab 18.3 came out.
- I grew up near Perpignan and moved to Agen for secondary school and highschool. I studied in Toulouse and my first job was in Bordeaux.
- Since most of my life is in south west of France, obviously, my favorite dish is cassoulet.
- My favorite song is Chan Chan - Compay Segundo.
- I've been playing drums as a hobby since I was 15.
- My favorite video games are Factorio, Team Fortress 2, The Elder Scrolls, Ragnarok Online
- I love traveling in Europe: the landscapes, cultures, and history of each country are so different that you never get bored.
- My first line of code was in Ruby at 13 (thanks LeSiteDuZero - now OpenClassrooms) because I wanted to develop my own game
How you can help me
- I welcome positive or negative feedback at any time, as long as it is constructive and helps me to improve
- If you ever feel like I could be doing something differently to be more helpful to you, your team, or the company; please let me know
My working style
- I embrace working asynchronously, leave me a message on Slack or by email and I'll do my best to answer as soon as possible.
- I'm a collaborative person who is just as happy contributing as a peer or leading initiatives.
- I value my time off work to recharge and aim to not check any work messages outside of my working hours. If I do so, I don't expect you to do the same.
- I value transparency in work environment and relations.
- I don't blame people for mistakes, I am more interested on what can be done to avoid happening again.
What I assume about others
- I believe we are all aiming at the same objective as we are working for the same company.
- I assume others will always do their best to be helpful.
Communicating with me
- I appreciate efficient communication, especially since I favor asynchronous dialog. You won't offend me by being direct, and I hope I won't by being so as well.
- I tend to be very friendly in communication. I like to use emoji for their universal nature and the non-verbal intent they carry.
- I'm detail oriented and precise. If I ask several questions in a message, I expect all of them to have answers, or "I don't know", or a redirect. I don't like asking the same question multiple times.
Strengths
- I calmly listen and understand every opinion, even if they differ from mine.
- I am very passionate about what I do, I can learn fast and I like to understand things in depth.
- When I don't know something, I will say it
- Even though I now only code dirty scripts, I love being technical and keep my technical knowledge up to date.
Weaknesses
- I can be easily distracted
- I am prone to confirmation bias
- I get bored quick if I am not working with people sharing the same passion.
- I tend to take charge and move quickly, which can sometimes prevent others from feeling involved and leave them behind.
