Mattermost vs. Rocket.Chat

During the February Vectors Meeting (https://gitlab.com/inkscape/vectors/general/wikis/meeting-minutes-feb-2018) there was some discussion about Rocket.Chat as an alternative to Mattermost. The primary benefit being "native" integration with Jitsi video conferences within the text chat interface. This could better facilitate the hybrid nature of our meetings. I have spun up a test instance of Rocket.Chat with open registration that we can look at. Ultimately the Inkscape project will be hosting one or the other of these. We may be able to provide feedback that will help in that decision.

Advantages

Mattermost

• Easier movement between Mattermost servers on web interface (Rocket.Chat requires app)
• Supports S3 storage of media (i.e. lower cost long-term)

Rocket.Chat

• Integrates with Jitsi for video meetings
• Website popup live chat
