Branding guidelines additions
The existing Inkscape Branding guidelines could use some additional clarifications about voice and different audiences. Discussions about whether Inkscape is an SVG editor, or a drawing tool in the first place come up occasionally. To that, we can add many different audiences that add even more variety to the picture. We need to address and define certain cases where branding has been difficult or confusing in the past, to avoid missed marketing opportunities.

Currently it's very unclear how far we can go with modifying the logo and tagline. Is the circle around the mountain ok, any other shape, do we prefer logo with text, with tagline, or we can go either way and let the customer decide? Can I use tagline alone (maybe put a very small inkscape.org in the corner of a pillow while tagline is spread all over)?
These are all considerations usually found in a graphic book of standards for a brand. Voice/atmosphere should also be defined. Do we present Inkscape as playful or serious, about standards or about artistic expression etc? What keywords are appropriate in products? The most important piece if information is to know your audience, who are the people who would buy these products, what is their demographics? Do we need a survey on this?

I'm not sure this animation qualifies as a "mascot", but I think Martin showed me inky after the fact... so maybe that's two kinda/sorta votes for an inkdrop mascot? :) I mean "freedom machine" is fun... but could represent any FOSS software project (or any computer running Linux or OpenBSD). Inky is kinda uniquely ours, imho. I'm sure variations would be welcome, and I'd sure like to see what the community has to say about it (if I get a vote) :)
