Discussion Topics
-
Start advertising the contest one month before it actually starts. Create buzz and hype! -
Create a Video, showing how to access the template. Also going over the Rules. (Perhaps use an existing Inkscape YouTuber, with a decent following?) -
Add pictures to the Rules (web page). This might help non-English speakers? Add accessibility descriptions to images. -
Hard code Bleed Margins into template. (Might help with filling canvas area?) -
Pre-define Safe to use, Font download sites. (This will save us having to track down fonts) -
Set a pre-defined contest theme. (like the forum contests) -
Should Inkscape point releases have Code-Names? (This could help generate "Buzz" and act as inspiration) -
Split contest into "Age", Categories (Maybe invite Schools to participate?) -
Split contest into "Ability", Categories (Schools, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) -
We could have three winners - One for the "About Screen, one for the "Welcome Screen" and one for the "Website banner" -
Rename the contest to, "The Screens Contest" Bit of a stretch for the website screen (banner) 🙃 -
Should we offer prizes? Such as a T-shirt with a collage of all the entries printed on it. Then make it available in our outlet stores to buy? -
Contact past entrants, personalised invites to take part again. (mailing list, Social platform DM's etc...) -
Make sure the contest has maximum visibility on our social platforms. Regular updates, and easy to find. Unified hashtags etc... -
Should contests be for major releases only? Such as 2.0, 3.0 etc... Maybe invite "Guest Artists", to create point release version screens? -
Hold a pre-contest meeting, to agree the plan of action. Types of advertising, how often, how it will look, etc... Better coordination as a Team. -
Remember to action "Ranked Voting", write instructions for users, advertise it, before voting starts.
