Ligatures are omitted when importing from PDF
Update: fixed in many/most cases, however plot_NNI_4_skinny.pdf from inbox#4530 (moved) still suffers from the issue. The metadata suggests it is created from LibreOffice draw 6.0
Steps to reproduce:
- In ligatures-compatible document editor type "Effective fixed reflective optics software"
- Apply "Calibri" or other ligature-compatible font, turn on ligatures.
- Save or print to PDF
- open Inkscape, and import there this PDF
What happened?
Text is imported incorrectly as "Ef ect ve f xed ref ect ve opt cs sof ware". Spaces there are created by coordinate positions, while the actual text-string has no spaces: "Efectve fxed refectve optcs sofware"
What should have happened?
Either original unicode symbols should be used for ligatures, of standard decomposition into separate symbols should happen. In worst case, some substitution character should indicate a problem.
