Exchange positions produces unexpected results with clipped objects

Steps to reproduce:

• open Inkscape
• open file first-try.svg
• select two objects
• open Align and Distribute dialog box
• hit the Rearrange command, Exchange positions of selected objects - stacking order

What happened?

• objects don't swap, they align horizontally, spaced apart

What should have happened?

• objects should have swapped positions

Have tried the other Rearrange commands, same result

Inkscape Version and Operating System:

• Operating System: Windows
