Inkscape raises itself when floating dialog open (fvwm)
My inkscape window is often at war with my other windows, attempting to raise itself above them immediately after I tell the window manager to lower the inkscape.
In a most extreme example two inkscape windows will get into a war with each other, endlessly asking to be moved to the top, which triggers the other inkscape to ask to be moved to the top and it doesn't stop until I move my mouse away or some race condition breaks the chain.
It is very important that I be able to lower an inkscape window so I can access another window I need to work in. I also need the inkscape window not to raise itself as soon as it gets focus, because it usually obscures information I need to see.
When I want inkscape to be on top of the window stack, I will raise it. Anything else is a bad user experience.
I happen to be using FVWM with focus-follows-mouse.
Steps to Replicate
- use fvwm as a window manager
- open Inkscape and one other program
- open a dialog in Inkscape and undock it
- Right click on the Inkscape title bar, click on More > Lower
What happened?
Inkscape briefly is lowered, then comes back up
What should have happened?
Inkscape is lowered beneath the other window.
