Adwaita Theme missing from Preferences on Windows 10 (“Use dark theme” appears for HighContrast theme)
Steps to replicate
- Launch Inkscape 1.2beta with all new settings (default theme is Adwaita)
- Open Preferences > Interface > Theme
- (see that the theme is listed as HighContrast, instead of Adwaita
- Change theme from HighContrast to HighContrastInverse: nothing seems to happen except controls get a weird yellow border.
- Change theme from HighContrastInverse back to HighContrast: now the theme style unexpectedly changes from dark mode to light mode!
What happened?
- Initial theme is misidentified so it appears that we have HighContrast with dark theme enabled
- User thinks that HighContrast comes with a "Use dark theme" checkbox and is confused when this option disappears.
What should have happened?
Theme correctly identified, ideally Adwaita is selected (on Windows the System Default is Adwaita and Adwaita isn't a separate item on the list)
