Eraser tool can't cut certain paths, deletes them instead

Summary:

The Eraser Tool cannot cut through certain paths and deletes them entirely.

Steps to reproduce:

• open the attached file in Inkscape: eraser-malfunction.svg
• switch to the Eraser Tool and put it in the mode: "Cut out from paths and shapes"
• erase a part of the green circle: everything works
• now try the same with the red circle

What happened?

The entire red circle disappears.

What should have happened?

Only a part of the red circle should be erased, just like with the green circle.
